Barbeque in a Yurt

Fire up, Gas on, drinks out, salad at the ready…. It’s time for a barbeque!! Due to the hospitality of Don and Dianne, the Link had its annual barbeque. But unlike any typical barbeque which we can all picture in our minds, it was a typical overcast afternoon. But we didn’t let that discourage us! Ignorance is bliss after all, and once we got the music on and had a few jumps on the trampoline, the weather became irrelevant. And the fun and friendship that we had experienced throughout the week continued.
To our surprise, Tanzumbrians (past and present) had come to the barbeque and told us of their experiences and stories of when they were in Tanzania. This has made us even more excited about our trip out there next year!!
Unfortunately, none of us had done a rain dance the night before, and it started to get cold and it began to rain. Luckily for us, Mary had brought her yurt for us to use (well I think it’s spelt like that). It was nice and cosy and even though we couldn’t all fit in, we all spent some time in the warmth, which is just another example of how we have all been sharing with each other throughout the week (including experiences, stories etc.).
Those of us who were brave enough to face the elements were definitely not short of things to do! We had the trampoline, badminton and even Twister to play! This was a totally different atmosphere of the visit, because there was no definite structure to the day. It was all about having fun, enjoying each other’s company and eating some good food!
